TheStartupist Conversation with Young Entrepreneur, Ben Lang

Uncategorized 10 November 2009 | View Comments

Ben Lang is a young high-school student and entrepreneur who has been utilizing the internet to make some money, start a business, and encourage others to pursue starting their own business as well. Check out the video below for a good idea of what Ben does, and then the interview to gain his perspective on entrepreneurship and business.

What is the most exciting thing that has happened to you as a result of starting your own business?
The most exciting thing that happened to me was my Channel 12 interview. I was called by a reporter from channel and within 20 minutes they were at my house interviewing me on my Ebay business. It was featured 24 times in 24 hours and really sparked my business.

How do you plan on leveraging your entrepreneurial spirit and small business in the future?
I plan on starting my own company when I finish school. I dont know yet what it will be but my entrepreneurial spirit is flaring so it wont matter as long as it succeeds.

What part of running your business excites you most?
I love being younger than most people who run businesses. I started at the age of 14 and now I am 16, still much younger than your average small business owner. Its exciting to get so much attention because of that.

If you had only one sentence of advice to ever give to other young people wanting to start their own business, what would it be?
Network, persevere and be creative, those are the most important concepts in running a business.

What projects are you currently working on, and how can people get involved?
I am currently concentrating on my blog: www.ben-lang.com.  You can get involved by reading my posts, leaving comments and sharing my posts. If you decide to so and you are a blog owner, let me know and I will add your blog to my list of “respected blogs.”
